Many modern smartphones, including iPhones and Android devices, now save photos by default in a format called HEIF or HEIC. These formats are optimised for storage space and quality but are not universally supported, particularly in desktop environments or certain apps like CrewPlanner.
Since CrewPlanner does not support HEIF/HEIC, we advise you to change your device’s settings so it saves photos as JPEG instead. This is a more universally compatible format and will prevent error messages.
Here’s how to change that setting:
📱 iPhone (iOS) – Switch to JPEG
Open the Settings app.
Scroll down and tap Camera.
Select Formats.
Under “Camera Capture,” choose Most Compatible.
Photos taken after this change will be saved in JPEG format.
🤖 Android – Switch to JPEG
On most Android phones (Samsung, Google Pixel, etc.):
Open the Camera app.
Tap the Settings icon (usually a gear in the corner).
Look for Image Format or Picture Format.
Choose JPEG instead of HEIF/HEIC.
The exact steps may vary slightly depending on your phone’s brand and Android version.
Once you've changed this setting, any new photos you take will be in JPEG format, allowing you to upload them easily into the CrewPlanner app.
We hope this has helped you!
